Mimansa (मीमांसा) is a Sanskrit word that means reflection, consideration investigation, examination and discussion.

At Mimansa, we strive to provide clients with practical, cost effective engineering solutions to International Loss Prevention Standards such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), FM Global etc. to reduce risk levels within the legal framework and local regulations.

Mimansa ensures that unidentified risk does not adversely impact the organization’s business goals.

This is a collaborative and integrative process with the client. Open discussions, understanding the nature of business, goal setting and explorations with the client are key to developing customised solutions.

Vikram Kalbag

Founder, Mimansa Risk Consulting

For over 20 years Vikram has been associated with major industries in India and Asia in various roles – first as management systems auditor and later as property loss prevention and risk management consultant. He is currently based in Bangalore, India and is responsible for Mimansa Risk Consulting operations in India and South East Asia.

He started his career in 1990 in a petrochemical plant and then moved into safety and risk consulting with Lloyds Register of Shipping conducting safety assessments for various large ports, oil and gas terminals and a wide range of onshore industries. Vikram joined FM Global in 2003 and managed the engineering team in India till 2013, after which he joined Marsh Risk Consulting (MRC) as Practice Leader for establishing the risk management practice in Marsh India. In 2015 Vikram started Mimansa Risk Consulting a company providing unbundled risk management services including fire protection design work for clients in India and Asia.

Vikram has expertise in risk identification, analysis, quantification and mitigation of industrial property related risks in Auto, Auto Ancillary, General Manufacturing, Food and Beverages, Chemical, Petrochemical and Pharmaceutical facilities, having serviced several large grass root and brown field projects and operational facilities in India, China and South-East Asia.  Having done work in various countries he is also well versed in code compliance of Asian countries as well as in due diligence of industrial locations. He also has the expertise to carry out business continuity planning studies, business interruption studies and supply chain risk evaluations in these industries.

In above to above specializations, having worked extensively with following industries for risk management, Vikram is familiar with project and operational risks in following industries: Textile and Clothing, Cosmetics, Data Centers, Electronics, Electrical, Glass manufacture, Warehousing and Logistics Centers, Molten Metals, Pulp and Paper, Printing and Rubber Processing, and Warehousing.
